Market Now: PSU bank stocks crack; IDBI Bank plunges 6%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty PSU Bank index was trading 2.88 per cent down at 3,540 around 02:55 pm (IST) on Tuesday with all components in the red.
Shares of IDBI Bank (down 5.88 per cent), Allahabad Bank (down 4.93 per cent), Syndicate Bank (down 4.72 per cent), Bank of Baroda (down 4.56 per cent), Oriental Bank of Commerce (down 4.33 per cent) and Canara Bank (down 4.25 per cent) cracked over 4 per cent.
Shares of Bank of India (down 4 per cent), Punjab National Bank (down 3.92 per cent), Andhra Bank (down 3.83 per cent), Union Bank of India (down 2.94 per cent) and State Bank of India (down 2.13 per cent) declined up to 4 per cent.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was 45 points down at 10,697, while BSE Sensex was 76 points down at 34,767.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty50 index, 15 were trading in the green, while 35 were in the red.
In the Nifty 50 index, Wipro, HCL Tech, Infosys, Tata Consultancy Services and Tech Mahindra were among the top gainers.
However, Coal India, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation, GAIL, Bajaj Finance and Vedanta were among the top losers.
