Michelle Kim will be new director of tourism of Galesburg Area Chamber of Commerce and she will see the day to day operations of Convention & Visitors Bureau division, operations of the Welcome Center and also exploring and implementation of various tourism projects, programmes and partnerships.
The Convention & Visitors Bureau of Galesburg Area Chamber of Commerce is at an exciting moment in the life of the entity, said Jessica Linder, Executive Director of the Galesburg Area Chamber of Commerce.
The Galesburg Area Chamber of Commerce have seen the good results over the past few years in terms of visitor numbers and tax revenue generated through hotel room nights, as well as food, retail, and gas.
The Galesburg Area Chamber of Commerce also sees a great opportunity for tourism in the region.
They are poised to take a very critical look at our operations to drive results even further.
Michelle Kim previously worked with Costa Catholic Academy, where she was the Marketing and Development Director. Before that she also proved with her intelligence how to operate the various tourism projects taken by the companies.
She was also held as the Resource Development Manager and Service Coordinator positions at the Knox County Housing Authority.
In last year, Michelle Kim became the owner of Cherry Street Restaurant & Bar where she directs sales, promotions, and employee relations initiatives. This gave her the intimate knowledge of local tourism and hospitality by working with different tour groups traveling to Galesburg and marketing the facility to out of town visitors.
The Galesburg Area Convention and Visitors Bureau is a part of Chamber of Commerce, which is responsible for heading the marketing of Galesburg and Knox County to visitors. It also contributes well to community development through the introduction of outside investment dollars.
