The Supreme Court on Tuesday said 'everyone should know everything about Judge Loya case' and asked Maharashtra government to give copies of medical reports to two petitioners-a journalist and Congress leader as well.
Senior Advocate Harish Salve appeared for Maharashtra government and handed over documents in a sealed cover to the apex court. However, the date for next hearing has not been fixed.
Harish Salve, appearing for Maharashtra, told the bench that documents contained certain confidential material which cannot be shared in public and they cannot be given to petitioners -- a journalist and a Congress leader. The counsel for the petitioners told the bench that they needed to look into these documents to argue the matter. "It is a matter where they (petitioners) should know everything," the bench observed.
In the last hearing, the court had termed as a "serious matter" the issue of alleged mysterious death of special CBI judge B H Loya, who was hearing the Sohrabuddin Sheikh encounter case and sought a response from Maharashtra government on pleas seeking an independent probe into it.
Maharashtra-based journalist B R Lone and Congress leader Tehseen Poonawala are petitioners in the case.
Judge Loya, who was hearing the sensitive Sohrabuddin Sheikh "fake encounter" case, had allegedly died of a cardiac arrest in Nagpur on December 1, 2014, when he had gone to attend the wedding of a colleague's daughter.
BJP chief Amit Shah was an accused in the case but has been discharged.
