A NEW YORK real estate broker is suing the wife of her lover - and members of her family - claiming they threatened to destroy her, break her legs and disfigure her after they learned of the tryst.
"What you have is a family affair where a husband cheats on his wife and then instead of the wife being angry at the husband, they go on the attack trying to destroy the woman he seduced," Alice Bahar's lawyer Robert Hantman said of the $US5 million ($6.3 million) claim for damages.
Referenced in the court filing is a voicemail from spurned spouse Charlet Sanieoff, seething that she will hire a goon to mess up Ms Bahar if she doesn't return jewellery from her straying hubby.
"Trust me when I tell you, you have 24 hours. One day, one day left to give me back every single gift. Write it down you dumb bitch …. If it's not in my hands in one day, one day I will give him the order to break both of your mother-f***ing legs. ….
"He'll just make it look like an accident. He'll just make it look like you fell down a flight of stairs. You can run, you can hide, my team is watching you.
"…I got good news for you, you're not cut out for brokerage but Whores R Us is looking for you! You'll be their number one star. 24 hours! Mail them!"
Charlet Sanieoff, 35, described her hired guy as "black, 6-foot-4, and … 319 pounds" in the February message to Ms Bahar, 37.
The New York resident also enlisted her mother and two brothers to warn Ms Bahar that "they were going to destroy her life and do something to her face so she could never look the same," the civil claim said.
Ms Bahar said she met the husband, landlord Abraham Sanieoff, when she was the exclusive broker from one of his rental properties.
"He kept sending her emails propositioning her," Ms Bahar's lawyer said. "She kept saying: 'No stay away from me. You're a married guy.'"
But she relented and the duo shared a love nest in Abraham Sanieoff's home, Mr Hantman said.
"They had an affair, she admits that. The claim is that after the fact the wife found out about it and the wife sent the most threatening messages you can imagine," Mr Hantman said.
The wife was arrested by the New York Police Department in March over the messages.
Ms Bahar got a restraining order against the wife in July, records show. Harassment charges were tossed this week after Charlet Sanieoff left Ms Bahar alone for six months.
But now Ms Bahar wants the still-married couple to pay for her "extreme mental and emotional distress".
"Nothing was actually my fault," Ms Bahar said. "I had to go through a difficult time because of these people. They never left me alone," she griped.
Reached on his mobile phone, Abraham Sanieoff sputtered, "Uhh. I have no comment."
His wife did not return messages left at their home.
