Reacting to the demand of BSP chief Mayawati that the next elections be held on ballot papers and not EVMs, state BJP president Dr Mahendra Nath csaid that the BSP should ask its legislators and other representatives, who had won recent elections to resign first and then raise the demand.
“The demand of BSP chief is unjustified. She should set high political standards by first asking party MLAs and Mayors who recently won elections and then demand repoll on paper ballots,” Dr Pandey said in a statement issued in Lucknow on Monday.
The state BJP chief said that the BJP won Gujarat elections despite being in power for 22 years. But Mayawati was thrown out of power after just five years because of her anti-people policies. “She is losing political clout because of her anti-Dalit policies and this was reflected in BSP’s recent rout in Assembly and Lok Sabha poll,” Pandey said.
The BJP leader said that the statement coming from a leader who was charged with selling tickets was indeed hilarious. “It is said that she had earned riches by selling Parliamentary and Assembly tickets. What is moe, she even got her statue erected during her regime. Leader of such background should not talk about political propriety,” he said.
