Shopper claims Primark is sexualising children with denim 'hotpant' shorts

A shopper in Bristol claims that Primark is sexualising children after discovering denim ‘hotpant’ shorts aimed at babies.

The 23-year-old shopper, who prefers to remain anonymous, told the Bristol Post that she was ‘disgusted’ after discovering the piece of clothing.

After claiming that the shorts ‘sexualise’ babies and should be immediately taken off shelves, she shared a picture of the denim shorts in question to social media and her family and friends agreed.

“I just think they are sick,” she told the Bristol Post.

“What on earth were Primark thinking?”

The £3.50 ($6 AUD) shorts are suggested for children aged ‘0 to 3 months’ at Primark’s Broadmead branch in Bristol.

“There is so much in the news right now about children and young girls being sexually abused and items like this and the sexualisation of babies is making it worse,” she told the Bristol Post.

The shopper has not yet made a formal complaint to Primark.

However, not everyone has taken side with the concerned shopper.

One reader commented on the Bristol Post article: “Get a grip! You can tell by the size of them that they are not going to be skin tight like a pair of hot pants, it’s just a pair of shorts.”

Another reader questioned why the woman wanted to keep her identity a secret and not make an official complaint to Primark if she was so outraged.

9Honey has reached out to Primark for comment.
