When the JJ Indira Gandhi Camp-II caught fire on Sunday evening, at least 28 people were injured.
While 24 of them were rushed to Safdarjung Hospital, five to six of them went to private hospitals on their own leaving them out of the record.
Officials claimed that 20 of the injured were discharged because they had sustained minor injuries. However all of them had to be rushed back to local hospitals and Lok Nayak Hospital on Monday morning after they complained of immense pain.

“They were all sent back around 12-1 a.m. in the night and were told they were fine. But they could not bear the pain, with some not being able to even talk or stand. Their faces got swollen a few hours after they came back from the hospital,” said Pooja, the niece of Geeta, who was taken to a nearby hospital, alleging that the authorities didn’t take them seriously.
Responding to the allegation, District Magistrate B.S. Jaglan said that no one can predict the after-effects of burn injuries, hence, the patients were sent back.
“Percentage of burn injuries may be less but it is difficult to anticipate whether they will worsen. When the injured complained in the morning, they were sent back to the hospital,” he said.
