Tilman Fertitta has opened a second flashy restaurant at his still-under-construction development, The Post Oak: Willie G's, one of the billionaire's favorite brands within his vast Landry's portfolio and a longtime Galleria area staple.

The relaunch and relocation of Willie G's (the old location at 1605 Post Oak closed in late December) comes about a month after the opening of the swank Mastro's Steakhouse within the 10-acre Post Oak campus, which also will include the Post Oak Hotel scheduled to debut in March.

The new Willie G's has a modern industrial design of dark wood, exposed brick and black granite countertops. Executive chef Jason Cole oversees an enormous seafood-centric menu where the raw bar rules with fresh Gulf and East Coast oysters, crudo, sashimi, ceviche and poke. Classic shrimp cocktail and iced seafood towers star alongside roasted and grilled oyster presentations as well as sushi rolls. Starters also include crab cakes, char-grilled tiger prawns and Thai chicken, Gulf fried oysters, New Orleans barbecue shrimp, and crab and lobster rolls. The daily catch menu includes fish flown in from around the world that can be broiled, blackened, wood fire grilled, oven roasted or fried. Other preparations include seared salmon, togorashi tuna, char-grilled salt prawns, blackened scallops and miso-glazed sea bass.

"Houstonians will still be able to enjoy the classic dishes they've come to love from Willie G's but with this new location we've taken the menu to a whole new level," Cole said.

Part of the rebooted experience includes new craft cocktails as well as the extensive wine collection that Willie G's and Mastro's share from The Cellar at The Post Oak, a 20,000-bottle collection that includes offerings from 25 counties.
