The Union man accused of escaping police custody after jumping from a second-floor bathroom at the Union County Courthouse was captured late Sunday night.
Brent Tyson Austin, 41, was arrested by State Law Enforcement Division officers at around 10:55 p.m. Sunday, according to Union County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Kim Bailey.
A cash reward for information about Austin’s whereabouts was offered Sunday afternoon, with up to $3,000 being up for grabs, depending on the information given about Austin.
Austin is accused of escaping custody at the courthouse Friday and is believed to have taken a pickup truck during his escape.
The truck was found at the corner of Jonesville-Lockhart Highway and Pineland Road Friday, but police dogs were unable to locate Austin.
Bailey said in an email that Union County Sheriff David Taylor would release more details on Austin’s escape and arrest at a later time.
