Clarkston robotics teams awarded education grants

State Rep. Jim Tedder announced a combined grant award of $18,300 to FIRST Robotics programs in Clarkston Community Schools from the Michigan Department of Education.

The RUSH robotics team was awarded $2,500 and the Clarkston RoboWolves, Cyborg Wolves, Grease Wolves, Jaffke/Evans and Technadoes teams received $1,300 each.

Clarkston Junior High School was awarded a total of $3,600 with six additional programs in the district receiving $950.

FIRST is an international educational organization focusing on the development and implementation of science and technology in schools.

The Michigan Department of Education awarded more than $2.5 million in grants for FIRST programs in public and non-public schools this year.
