Underground reservoir inaugurated

| | New Delhi

In its constant endeavour to provide uninterrupted water supply and sewerage infrastructure and to keep pace with the growing water demands in the national Capital, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday inaugurated an underground reservoir (UGR) /booster pumping station at Mayapuri with 12.4 million litre capacity.

A senior Delhi Jal Board  (DJB) official said that at present these areas are being supplied water through Naraina mains and Subhash Nagar UGR. Construction of this UGR/BPS plant will ensure proper equitable and timely supply of potable water to 1.5 lakh residents of the area.

“The total cost of this project is Rs 14.5 crores and is expected to complete in 18 months. The pumping station will be operated by Supervisory control on data acquisition (SCADA) based latest technology,” he said.

SCADA is a control system architecture that uses computers, networked data communications and graphical user interfaces for high-level process supervisory management, but uses other peripheral devices such as programmable logic controllers and discrete PID controllers to interface to the process plant or machinery. The operator interfaces which enable monitoring and the issuing of process commands, such as controller set point changes, are handled through the SCADA supervisory computer system.

With the decision, the colonies of Mayapuri Industrial areas, parts of Subhash Nagar, Hari Nagar, Maya Enclave, Fateh Nagar, Tihar Villages, Usha Park, Asha Park, Khajan Basti, Beri Wala Bagh and adjoining areas will be benefited.

Dinesh Mohaniya, vice Chairman of DJB, Anil Kumar Singh CEO of the DJB Jagdeep Singh (MLA), and other senior officers were also present.
