1. Women's Rally: The Fayetteville Chapter of the National Organization for Women is sponsoring a Women’s Rally at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Market House in downtown Fayetteville. The event is meant to mark the anniversary of last year's historic Women's March on Washington and the 45th anniversary of the Supreme Court decision Roe v Wade, organizers said.

2. Community meetings: The Fayetteville Economic and Community Development Department is hosting a series of meetings to help identify needs in the community in preparation for the department’s 2018-19 Annual Action Plan. Topics of discussion will include community development, housing and economic development. The meetings are designed to allow residents to voice concerns and identify needs for the community. Meetings are scheduled Tuesday at Kingdom Impact Global Ministries, 2503 Murchison Road; Thursday at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, 118 Johnson St.; Jan. 23 at Hollywood Heights Community Center, 691 Pritchett Road; and Jan. 30 at Old Wilmington Road Neighborhood Resource Center, 229 Lincoln Drive. All meetings start at 7 p.m.

3. FSU Speaker Series: Best-selling author Margot Lee Shetterly will speak at Fayetteville State University next month as part of the Chancellor's Speaker Series. Her talk will be at 7 p.m. Feb. 6 in the J.W. Seabrook Auditorium. It is free and open to the public. Shetterly is the author of "Hidden Figures: The American Dream and the Untold Story of the Black Women Mathematicians Who Helped Win the Space Race.''
