'No more concessions' Farage issues rallying cry as Macron 'BLACKMAILS' UK over trade deal

NIGEL FARAGE has called on the UK to stand up for itself as Emmanuel Macron prepares to use Brexit to "blackmail" Britain to receive more Calais funds.

Emmanuel Macron is expected to tell Theresa May to take more child refugees from Calais in exchange for a French approval of a Brexit trade deal.

Nigel Farage urged Britain to reject the French President's deal, which he said amounted to another case of EU "blackmail and bullying".

Nigel Farage urged Britain to reject the French President's deal

Mr Macron is visiting Britain on Thursday, when he is expected to pressure the Prime Minister into paying more for Calais policing.

The former Ukip leader told LBC listeners this evening that "enough was enough" and Britain had to finally draw the line against "swallowing any more Brexit concessions".

Mr Farage said: "This guy is blackmailing us and we should stand up to behaviour like this."

He praised Tory MP Tim Loughton for calling out Mr Macron's "ungrateful" approach to Calais, adding: "In the last three years we have given £124million to France to build fences and make life safer for drivers. We've paid them to make their trade easier!"

If no deal is reached between the two nations, Mr Macron may threaten to scrap the Le Touquet Accord which puts Britain’s border in France and France’s at Dover in Kent.

The Brexiteer mocked this as "the French cutting off their noses to spite their face".

He added: "France has a trade surplus with the UK of £12billion. Why on earth would you choose to make this more difficult? What more could he possibly ask from us?"

This guy is blackmailing us and we should stand up to behaviour like this

Nigel Farage

The French offer is believed to be part of the French leader's ambition to lead the EU in the absence of Mrs Merkel, who is busy trying to agree a coalition deal.

A French official said: "We’re still negotiating. There is back and forth. Nothing is locked in yet.

"The British have shaken on nothing but there’s a lot of pressure on them. Our understanding is that they will pay more.

"The question is how much and for what. We’re talking tens of millions of euros."

Gérard Collomb, France’s interior minister, added: "I hope to succeed in getting an additional element to these agreements, and concrete measures regarding the covering of a certain number of costs by the British, as well as the receiving of a greater number of people, in terms of refugees and non-accompanied minors."
