Nearly 40 school districts that educate more than 1 million students across Houston metro area announced they will close Tuesday, Jan. 16 ahead of potential winter weather. They include:

Huntsville, Sealy and Navasota school districts also cancelled Tuesday classes ahead of potential winter weather.

Spokespeople for other local school districts said they are monitoring the weather and would alert parents to any delays or school closings through phone calls or local media reports.
