Quite and serene Ella hill town in Sri Lanka offers rich biodiversity around waterfalls and peace of sacred Buddhist Rock temple
"Currently, we are visiting Ella is a small hill town in the Badulla district of Sri Lanka which is rich in biodiversity, surrounded by lush green forests and tea plantations. From the hills one can view the southern plains of Sri Lanka along with visiting the Ravana Falls, rock Buddha, sacred Dhoha Rock Temple and Nine Arched Bridge. Here the sunrise scene is splendid with the sky filled with hues of orange, scarlet and yellow colours," inform my kin who are on two-week tour of Sri Lanka.

The Ravana Falls are one of the country's widest falls and a popular sightseeing attraction in Sri Lanka. Near the falls, there is a cave that has been mentioned in an Indian epic Ramayana. The falls measure approximately 25m in height but are quite wide.

The water around the falls is refreshing but the rocks underneath are slippery and one must wade through water consciously and carefully.

Around Ella, the Nine Arches Bridge is one of the most iconic railway bridges in Sri Lanka that was built by the British. One can see people walking on the bridge and getting themselves photographed with the scenic beauty of the hill in the backdrop.

Another tourist attraction is the sacred ancient Dhowa temple which has a giant rock Buddha, a 38-foot statue carved in granite amidst breathtaking scenery.

One has to walk on the roads here with great caution because of rash driving by the locals and remain wary of pushy street vendors and pick-pockets.
