This won't be an easy decision by any means, since Mueller's return will make the Devils 100 percent healthy for the first time this season. Once he is ready, it would make sense for the Devils to carry eight defensemen and 13 forwards, like they did earlier this season before Mueller's broken clavicle on Nov. 12. It would make sense for the Devils to try to move either Jimmy Hayes or Drew Stafford to make room, whether through a trade or by placing them on waivers when Mueller is ultimately ready.

Saturday was a nightmare for the power play. They couldn't sustain possession or create entries in their 5-3 loss to the Flyers, and being that out of sync is one of the bad side effects of the bye week.

There have been a lot of questions about keeping Travis Zajac and Brian Boyle together on the top power play unit. We'll see if they make any changes at Monday's practice, but the logic there involves having two players can battle along the boards behind the net and cause traffic in the middle while Kyle Palmieri, Taylor Hall and Will Butcher work the puck on the outside.
