RAVENNA — A Ravenna Township man has pleaded guilty to his second felony drunken driving charge in the past seven years, as well as another felony for failing to stop his vehicle for police in October.

Judge A. Fields III, 42, of 6304 Cara Drive, recently pleaded guilty to failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer, a third-degree felony, and operating a vehicle under the influence, a fourth-degree felony, in Portage County Common Pleas Judge Becky Doherty’s courtroom.

Doherty ordered a pre-sentence investigation and for Fields to submit to biweekly substance abuse testing while awaiting sentencing.

A grand jury indicted Fields in October on four charges, including felony failure to comply and felony OVI, along with misdemeanor driving under suspension and possession of drug abuse instruments. That followed his Oct. 2 arrest by Kent police following a traffic stop on his 2002 Chevrolet Blazer in the area of East Main and Lincoln streets.

Officers alleged Fields initially failed to stop his vehicle, and when he finally did, was found to be intoxicated and in possession of a methamphetamine pipe. He also had a prior felony conviction for OVI in Portage County in July 2011, according to his indictment and court records.

Following that conviction, Fields was sentenced to five years in prison and had his driver’s license suspended for 10 years by Judge Laurie Pittman, according to court records.
