Corpus Christi police on Monday said they are waiting for next of kin to be notified before releasing the identity of a man whose body was foundĀ in the 13100 block of Interstate Highway 37 over the weekend.
Officers were called to the scene just after noon on Sunday in response to a possible dead body, said CCPD Senior Officer Travis Pace. When officers arrived, they found the remains of a 62-year-old man under a highway overpass.
The body was reportedly spotted over the span of a week, police said, but a call was not made to law enforcement until Sunday. Crime scene investigators with the CCPD were called to the scene to take photographs, but there appeared to be no evidence of foul play, Pace said.
Investigators with the Nueces County Medical Examiner's Office transported the man's remains from the area for further examination to determine a cause of death. The man's identity was not released pending notification of next of kin, police said.
