#JudgeConference: All the issues have been resolved, says BCI
Clearing the air on the controversy related to the allegations by top Supreme Court Judges against the Chief Justice of India (CJI), the Centre has claimed that that it was an internal issue of the judiciary and has been resolved internally.
Divulging more details, Attorney General K K Venugopal said that the courts are functioning normally. It was a storm in a tea cup, he said.
However, according to some reports, the Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra, is yet to reach out to top Judges, who have openly revolted against him.
Confirming the news of a possible reconciliation between the aggrieved parties, the Bar Council of India (BCI) has revealed that the members of the association have met 15 judges of the Supreme Court following the crisis in the apex judiciary and they have assured that the issues have been resolved.
Addressing the media during a press meet, BCI Chairman Manan Kumar Mishra has said that the story is now over.
Appealing to the political parties to not take advantage of the crisis brewing in the top judiciary of the country, Misra said that everyone are discharging their duties and everything has been resolved as the Attorney General also said.
For the first time in history, four top Supreme Court Judges, Justices Jasti Chelameswar, Ranjan Gogoi, Madan B Lokur and Kurian Joseph on January 12, 2018, had organized a press conference alleging the CJI of assigning important cases selectively to the benches of his preference.
Justice Chelameswar had said that the democracy is in danger and the apex court is not being run in a proper way.
Earlier, the CJI had met a seven-member delegation of BCI and Supreme Court Bar Association President Vikas Singh and had assured them that the crisis would be sorted out soon.
Justice Joseph also said that they had not violated the discipline of the institution and was confident that their actions will bring in more transparency in the administration of the Supreme Court.
Meanwhile, the family of Justice Loya has claimed that they did not have any doubts about the way he died three years ago.
