Srinagar, Jan 15: Security forces on Monday foiled an infiltration bid in Dulanja area of Uri killing six Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorists. The six militants, believed to be fidayeen attackers, were gunned down during a joint operation bu the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Army and the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF).
“JeM terrorists killed in Dulanja Uri while infiltrating in a joint operation by J&K Police, Army and CAPF,” Shesh Paul Vaid, DGP, J&K Police, said. Combing operations in the region are underway.
According to reports, the Jaish terrorists were planning to carry out terror attack in the Valley similar to December 31 strike on a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) camp in Pulwama.
Heavily-armed militants stealthily entered the CRPF camp in Lathpora area about two hours after midnight on December hurling grenades and resorting to indiscriminate gunfire. Five soldiers were killed in the attack. Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed had claimed responsibility for the daring attack on the 185 Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force.
