Teen Murti is now Teen Murti-Haifa
The Israeli PM is the fourth leader to be received by Modi at the airport: the earlier ones being the US President (2015), the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince (2016), and Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina (2017).
NEW DELHI: Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu and with PM Modi rechristened the Teen Murti Chowk in downtown Delhi as the 'Teen Murti-Haifa Chowk' after the Israeli city of Haifa, in what's seen as a huge symbolic significance to the growing strategic ties between the two countries. Netanyahu arrived in Delhi on Sunday on a landmark six-day visit to India.

Modi — who broke protocol to receive Netanyahu at the airport reciprocating the gesture shown by the Israeli PM last July when he visited Tel Aviv — drove down to the Teen Murti Chowk with the Israeli PM. Netanyahu is only the second Israeli PM to visit India.

Battle of Haifa

"Very much appreciate the gesture," the Jerusalem Post, quoted Netanyahu, as saying.

"We are strengthening the relationship between Israel and this important world power. This helps us with security, the economy, trade, tourism and many other aspects. It is a very great blessing to the state of Israel," Netanyahu had said before boarding the flight. "Welcome to India, my friend PM @netanyahu! Your visit to India is historic and special. It will further cement the c l o s e friendship be- tween our nations," PM Modi had tweeted.
