Samantha Fish to close down Callahan’s in March

Callahan’s Music Hall plans on going out with a splash this spring.

Blues/rock singer and guitarist Samantha Fish will play the final shows at the Auburn Hills club on March 11-12. Tickets, priced $25 and $30, go on sale at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 18, via atcallahans.com.

Fish, who recorded her latest album, “Chills & Fever,” in Detroit with members of the Detroit Cobras and producer Bobby Harlow, headlined the Callahan’s-sponsored Blues & Roots Fest on Aug. 27 in Lake Orion.

During early December Callahan’s announced it would be closing after more than a decade of operation “tof ocus on our heatlh, family and other interests.” Since 2007 the club has presented more than 1,500 shows and was the major blues venue in the Detroit metro area.

Owner Mike Moss says that the property on South Blvd. south of Opdyke Road will be sold, but unlikely to another music club operator. Moss may keep his hand in music via festivals and other special events.
