Arguments about Sunoco’s mega-pipeline rage on

The Mariner East 2 pipeline project can produce a visceral reaction from people in the community — often those concerned about safety and quality of life as evidenced in vocal displays of opposition at municipal meetings and elsewhere. There’s also a contingent who feel strongly about the positive impact from the project being in Pennsylvania, as outlined in a Sunoco Pipeline-funded economic analysis released recently.

West Goshen teen donates cash, pet supplies to SPCA

After a successful season of putting on a Christmas display to support charity, teenager Gavin Snyder brought over $500 in donations to the Brandywine Valley SPCA last week. In addition to the cash, the Stetson Middle School student collected 12 bags of bedding, pet toys and food for the animal shelter.

2 area chambers of commerce collaborate on training

The TriCounty Area Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Reading Chamber Alliance are coming together to offer professional development training opportunities for tri-county area employees. The modules will be conducted by trainers provided by the Greater Reading Chamber Alliance, and held in the Pottstown office of the TriCounty Area Chamber of Commerce.

Phoenixville schools ponder impact of too much homework

While it might not be hard to find middle and high school students complaining they have too much homework, in Phoenixville some of their parents are saying the same thing. The issue came up during a Thursday work session of the Phoenixville area school board.

The Minnesota Vikings, after watching their late-third-quarter 17-point lead vanish at the hands of the indefatigable Drew Brees, went back in front of the New Orleans Saints on a field goal with 1:29 left. Trailing by two with that much time? That was no trouble for Brees, who moved the Saints in position for the responding field goal with 25 seconds remaining.

McCaffery: Appreciating Doug Pederson’s readiness for a defining Eagles moment

Even as he was carrying a 13-3 record into his first postseason game Saturday, Doug Pederson had to know knew the usual rules, rules he may never stop hearing. Unpopular as a former Eagle and untested as a head coach, few were going to have to prove more to fans and critics before being accepted. By late last offseason, the situation turned unnecessarily cruel when a failed football executive named Mike Lombardi went media-hopping to declare Pederson unfit to coach professional football. Because of how it works any more, that babble went viral.

Chief among the returners are ABC’s (Channel 6) “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Scandal,” and “How to Get Away with Murder,” the first enjoying long popularity, the second featuring strong writing and gppd work from Kerry Washington, the last boasting a consistently great lead performance from the consistently great Viola Davis, a powerhouse in anything she does.
