A slight chance of snow Tuesday night could lead to some slick spots on Upstate roads.

National Weather Service forecasts showed a 40 percent chance of light snow across the area for a brief time Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning.

Doug Outlaw, a meteorologist at Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport, said the Upstate likely won’t see much precipitation, but what does fall could cause some headaches on area roadways.

“It’s not a big chance at all. It’s certainly going to be a better chance up north in the Hickory and Statesville area,” he said. “There certainly could be some slick spots on the road.”

The best chance for precipitation would be at around midnight, Outlaw said.

By sunrise Wednesday, the area should be dry again.

Outlaw said since the forecast calls for snow and not sleet, any road concerns wouldn’t be widespread.

“Since it’s going to be in the form of snow, it shouldn’t be a widespread problem,” he said. “Just a possibility of some slick spots.”
