The President’s Media Division made a special announcement on January 11, 2018, clarifying the details on the President seeking the opinion of the Supreme Court regarding his term of office.
The announcement says two different views have been expressed in legal, civil and political circles about the President’s tenure after the enactment of the 19th Amendment to the Constitution.
Accoding to the President’s Media Division, in order to dispel this confusion, the President has sought the opinion of the Supreme Court regarding the actual term of office.
The announcement stated that according to the powers vested in the President under the Constitution, the President has the right to seek the opinion of the Supreme Court.
The former President’s who held office had also sought the opinion of the Supreme Court during their tenures. It is a significant feature in the constitution of democratic governance.
