BBC newsreader George Alagiah, 62, to undergo medical treatment as bowel cancer returns

The BBC newsreader fought bowel cancer back in 2014, returning to work after receiving the all-clear in November 2015.
George said that he “feels positive” as he prepares to tackle the disease once again.
“My brilliant doctors are determined to get me back to a disease-free state and I know they have the skill to do just that,” he said.

“I learned last time around how important the support of family and friends is and I am blessed in that department.

George returned to the BBC after battling bowel cancer in 2014 “He was first diagnosed with bowel cancer in April 2014 and returned to the screen in November 2015 after extensive treatment.
“He is in discussions with his medical team about treatment options and the way forward,” she said.
The BBC released has a statement sending well-wishes to George.
“Everyone at the BBC sends George and his family their best wishes as he undergoes treatment and we will be thinking of them,” the broadcaster said.

George is the presenter of BBC News At Six The Sri-Lankan-born presenter was previously learned he had a tumour on his bowel after finding blood in his stools.
MRI scans later showed that he also had eight tumours in his liver.
He then underwent several rounds of chemotherapy and three major surgeries before being given the all-clear.
He has since said that he is a “richer person” having survived the experience.
