Aubameyang: Bundesliga expert claims Arsenal deal is AGREED - but there's a big catch

ARSENAL have agreed terms with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to make him the highest earner in the club's history, according to Bundesliga expert Lee Price.

German football expert Price has written two books about Bundesliga and is a reliable source of transfer news.

He revealed last year how Naby Keita was set for Liverpool and Sead Kolasinac would join Arsenal - weeks before they were confirmed.

And now it is his understanding that Aubameyang's camp have come to an agreement which will see the Borussia Dortmund striker become the top earner in Arsenal history.

However, there is a catch. Price says the Gabon hitman will only move to the Emirates this month if Alexis Sanchez completes a move to Manchester City or United.

And, even still, it might not be as simple as that. While Aubameyang sees Arsenal as a decent option, he would prefer a move to City where he could play under Pep Guardiola.

They are only likely to consider the striker if they fail in their bid for Sanchez.

Price said: "Aubameyang has wanted out of Dortmund for more than a year. They were keen to cash in last summer despite agreeing a new deal.

"It was Dortmund's belief that the Premier League cash would come eventually and it appears they will now get their wish.

"The player, meanwhile, rejected a move to China in the belief he would get a move to one of the European big boys.

"Arsenal would not have been his first choice but it's very much a match of convenience. He wants to come to the Premier League and they need to replace Sanchez.

"I understand the contract which has been agreed will make him the club's record earner ever. It's now up to a fee to be agreed with Arsenal and the Sanchez sale to be wrapped up."

Aubameyang was left out of the Borussia Dortmund side to face Wolfsburg this afternoon due to disciplinary problems.

The 28-year-old missed a game earlier in the season due to ill-discipline and in 2016 he was dropped for an unauthorised trip to Milan.

Aubameyang has had an outstanding season with 21 goals in 23 games this season and is the second top scorer in the Bundesliga, behind Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski.

Sanchez, too, has been axed by his club. He was left out of the Arsenal squad which lost 2-1 to Bournemouth earlier today and after the match Arsene Wenger confirmed they would sign a replacement for the Chilean.

He said: “Look, if Alexis goes we need to replace him.

“When you look today we missed many players in our squad and you see that we have a weight in the team, and if players like Alexis go, we have of course to respond to it.

“Will he go or not? I do not know, but at the moment it’s the transfer period and in this kind of period you try to use the players that are completely focused at being at the club.”
