Claro Brasil has implemented the 'A Energia da Claro' programme that provides for the use of clean energy and the adoption of environmental protection actions across all its operations and facilities. The initiative will lead to a reduction of more than 100,000 metric tons of CO2 per year, equivalent to the withdrawal of almost 420,000 cars from circulation, the company claims.

The energy used by Claro will come from several renewable sources: solar, wind, hydroelectric, biogas and qualified cogeneration. The company's goal is to cover 80 percent of the energy used by its operations throughout Brazil with renewables, which represents more than 600,000 MWh per year.
