AL AIN: As part of Al Ain’s calendar of cultural activities and events organised by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi for 2017/18, the My Heritage, My Responsibility series returned to Al Ain Palace Museum on 11 and 12 January with the attendance of Sheikh Khalid Bin Khalifa Bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
Featuring an array of events and activities, crowds congregated at Al Ain Palace Museum to enjoy a variety of popular shows and workshops. The series focused on the variety of traditional performances typical to the different regions of the UAE, from the desert, to the mountains, sea and oases. The programme celebrates the rich cultural history and heritage of the UAE and highlights the diversity in the customs and traditions of the different areas of the country, influenced by the landscapes and prevalent industries.
The next installment of My Heritage, My Responsibility will return to the courtyard of Al Ain Palace Museum on 15 and 16 February, where visitors can experience some of the most unique Emirati performing arts, including Al Hoolu, Al Hadwa, Al Rababa, Al Taghrooda, and Al Harbiya from 5pm. Visitors will also be able to enjoy a traditional market offering a variety of Emirati cuisine, artistic workshops, and traditional games for children, in addition to cultural competitions open to all.
Considered one of the most prominent cultural destinations in the city, Al Ain Palace Museum narrates the story of UAE’s founder, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. With its unique and inherent Arabic identity, Al Ain served as his residence from 1946 until 1966.
