SHARJAH: The Sharjah’s Sharia Court on Sunday looked into the case of a young man and a woman, both GCC nationals, charged with assaulting police officers, who were in charge of arresting them.
The Jury heard testimony of a Lieutenant Colonel at the Anti-Narcotics-Department, who was among a security force to arrest the first suspect. He said that the department received information that the suspect abuses narcotics. Consequently, an arrest warrant was issued to arrest him. He was monitored in a car driven by the second suspect. The latter reversed car to deliberately hit the police vehicle that was stopped behind her car. She intentionally wanted to distract the policemen to help the first suspect to flee.
The second suspect appeared before the Court, while the other did not.
However the police office showed the second suspect his ID, she assaulted him causing burses and scratches in his body, he added. He also noted that he had already waived his right in the assault charge.
The Court postponed the case till the 28th of this month to hear the defence.
