‘Swadeshi Mela’ lures foreign visitors too

The Swadeshi Mela organised at Bokaro is luring foreign visitors too. They have been attracted by ‘Khadi’ and other indigenous products.

The week-long mela was kicked-off on Thursday at Mazdoor Maidan, Sector 4. The Swadeshi Mela is one of the most prominent tools adopted by Swadeshi Jagran Manch for the indigenous promotion of country made goods at Bokaro Steel City. “Our aim is to enhance patriotism among mass through the ‘mela,” said Kumar Sanjay Convenor of the mela.

Visitors enjoying the ‘Mela’; seen intended towards the Indian products like ‘Khadi’ and other indigenous products. With a wide-wide range of country made colourful indigenous products of Khadi garments and handicrafts items, created a deep impact on the visitors’ mind, said Viveka Nand Jha the district head of Swadeshi Jagran Manch.

About 156 stalls of different products, including toys, fabrics, modern furniture, garments, kitchen utensils and processed food items like pickles and jams, handmade ornaments, devotional products, are displayed in the mela, said Suresh Kumar Sinha a member of the Manch. All the stalls including- Agriculture and Food Processing, Auto Ancillaries, Banking and Finance, Chemicals, Communication, Consumer durables, Electrical and Lighting, Electronics, Engineering, Entertainment, Handicrafts, Health and Tourism, Herbal products, Infrastructure, Insurance, Rural and Cottage Industries, Textiles and Garments and others represented almost all states and regions of the country, informed Sujit Kumar Media-in-charge of Swadeshi Jagran Manch.

 Wooden furniture bearing intricate designs and famous carpets of Uttar Pradesh and handmade digestives from Jaipur was some of the attractions of the mela, he said.
