S’garh girl married forcibly in Raipur

The police registered  a case against a youth,  his  brother and  two of his cousins on  Saturday  after  a girl  of  Sundargarh lodged  a complaint of being  abducted,  raped and forcibly married in Raipur.

The police conducted a medical examination of the girl on Sunday and are now investigating the case.

According  to the victim of Rajabati  under  Town police  station in Sundargarh  on  Saturday,  she  had  gone  to  her  aunt’s  (father’s sister)  house in  December  last.

On  December  4,  a   youth  identified  as  Amit   Meghnani,  a resident  of  Umaria,  Madhya  Pradesh,  whom  she  knows,  had called  her to  a  hotel  at  Raipur  to  meet   him.  Trusting Amit, she went  to that hotel  and met  him. Amit  had  given her soft drinks and  after drinking the soft drink, she had gone unconscious.  Thereafter, Amit had  taken her with  him and had married  her  in  Arya  Samaj at Raipur.

Later, Amit took the victim to his house and detained her there and allegedly raped her. She also  mentioned  in  her FIR  that  prime accused Amit’s brother Sumit, Amit’s   aunt(father’s sister), uncle (aunt’s husband) had also abetted the crime. The victim met Sundargarh SP Pinak Mishra recently and narrated her plight.
