Colton Hargrove took a pass from Anton Blidh and beat Thunderbirds' goalie Evan Cowley (34 saves) at 19:26.
Kenny Agostino put Providence ahead at 19:49, converting a pass from Austin Czarnik six seconds after Thomas Schemitsch of Springfield was sent to the box for tripping.
The Thunderbirds took control in the second period on goals by Juho Lammikko at 11:06, Maxim Mamin at 14:25 and Dryden Hunt at 15:40.
Hunt added an empty net goal at 18:43 of the third period.
Providence's Jordan Binnington stopped 16 of 19 shots before he was replaced after Mamin's goal by Zach McIntyre (13 saves).
