AJMAN: Ajman Civil Defence and Police yesterday rescued six Asian and African workers from under the debris after a wall of a house located in Al Humaidiya collapsed on them.
The six people who received serious and moderate injuries were all rushed to Khalifa Hospital where they are currently receiving treatment.
Brigadier Mohammed Ali Al Jumaira, Director of the fire station of Ajman Civil Defence, said that at noon they received a call about the collapse of a house wall, that was three metres in length.
The rescue teams from Al Jarf, Industrial areas fire stations of Civil Defence reached the site in less than four minutes and removed the workers from under the debris and rushed them to the hospital. The workers were carrying out excavation work behind the house when its wall suddenly collapsed.
He added that a quick response from the rescue units helped a great deal in saving the lives of the workers. They conducted an accurate and professional rescue operation to protect the workers that helped in not adding to their injuries. The site is now being checked by police forensic experts to determine the cause of the accident. Brigadier Al Jumaira urged contracting companies to implement safety procedures and conditions at work sites to prevent workers getting injured and fatal accidents.
