The Spartans fell to 0-3 in the Atlantic Sun as the Hatters pulled away in the second half.
DELAND, Fla. — Freshman Abayomi Iyiola had 12 points and 11 rebounds and B.J. Glasford scored 18 points to help Stetson beat USC Upstate 87-69 on Saturday.
Glasford made 7 of 10 from the field, including four of Stetson's 14 3-pointers. Divine Myles and Angel Rivera had 11 points apiece and Luke Doyle scored 10 for the Hatters.
Mike Cunningham had 16 points, including four 3s, Ramel Thompkins scored 12 and Avery Diggs added 10 points for USC Upstate (5-15, 0-3 Atlantic Sun).
Stetson (10-9, 2-1) had runs of 11-0 and 10-0 and hit nine 3-pointers in the first half, while the Spartans made just 11 of 30 from the field, to lead 43-30 at the break. Upstate missed seven of its first eight second-half shots as the Hatters pushed their lead to 20 points about 4½ minutes in and Stetson used a 13-2 spurt to make it 67-39 with 11 minutes to play.
Upstate shot just 38.7 percent (24-of-62) from the field, but made 10 3-pointers for the 13th time this season.
The Spartans play their first home conference game of the season on Thursday when they host Jacksonville at 7 p.m.
