The Disaster Management Centre has taken steps to provide compensation for the 659 houses which were damaged by the winds that swept across Divulapitiya.
According to the Assistant Director of the centre, Ravi Jayaratne said that according to estimates, a maximum amount of Rs. 2.5 million will be provided as compensation.
Furthermore, he noted that the fallen electricity posts will be restored during the course of the day.
He added that an initial payment amounting to 10,000 rupees will be provided to the aggrieved party tomorrow, January 15.
