Tacloban City announced on Sunday the suspension of classes for Monday, Jan. 15, at all levels in both public and private schools, due to scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms.

In an advisory, the city government said the suspension was “for the security and safety of the students.”

The tail-end of a cold front would prevail over the province of Visayas, according to a morning bulletin issued by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

Pagasa advised residents of the city about possible flooding or landslides brought by the moderate to heavy rains. /atm
