Chennai:
At present, the facility is largely confined to competitive exam training centres run by the government. The V-SAT allows a teacher to explain the concepts from one location and the session can be streamed to all the other centres and students can also interact with the teacher.
A senior official from the School Education Department said, “The coaching classes happen only during the weekend. Since much more can be achieved using this technology, we plan to link government and government-aided schools through this facility by next year.”
The TN government has collaborated with Speed Medical Institute that will provide this technology in 412 training centres, 100 of which are already functional.
An amount of Rs 19.80 crore had been allotted by the government for setting these high-tech centres.
