Abu Dhabi: Under the patronage of Sheikh Hazza Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council and Honourary President of the UAE Football Association (UAEFA), and with the presence of Major General Mohammed Khalfan Al Romaithi, Commander-in-Chief of Abu Dhabi Police and President of the General Authority of Sports, the Pro League Committee (PLC) will organise the Arabian Gulf Super Cup between the 2016-17 Arabian Gulf League (AGL) champions Al Jazira and their city rivals Al Wahda, UAE President’s Cup champions. The match kicks-off at 20:00pm on Jan.20 at Baniyas Stadium in the capital Abu Dhabi.
PLC Chairman Abdulla Naser Al Junaibi expressed his delight with the patronage of Sheikh Hazza for the match, stressing the PLC members’ pride in Sheikh Hazza’s extraordinary interest in the event and praising his continued support for UAE football. He hoped Emirati football can deliver achievements that match the attention in receives from the wise leadership.
Al Junaibi confirmed the PLC’s keenness to produce the match in the best possible way, highlighting the ongoing preparations to organise the event. He insisted the patronage of Sheikh Hazza will help elevate the importance of the occasion on all fronts and places and added responsibility on the PLC.
Al Junaibi added that the PLC continues to work and coordinate with all stakeholders to ensure the smooth running of the day according to the highest quality standards, wishing both teams can put in a showing befitting the big occasion.
