Watch this scary footage which shows the extraordinary crash, in which the white passenger plane skidded off the runway at Trabzon Airport in Turkey.

The plane, a Pegasus Airline Boeing 737, left the runway and instead hurtled down the side of the cliff face.

Giving the term cliff hanger a terrifying real significance, the passenger plane was left dangling on the steep side of a cliff.

The video, at first, shows simply a plane runway located next to the vast Black Sea, with a small area of greenery departing the two.

However as the camera, which provides a birds eye view, moves closer to the sea, an aircraft is visible on the cliff side.

It faces downwards diagonally towards the sea, and there are a number of vehicles nearby on the small road next to it. 

The camera angle changes to a new even more terrifying view of the plane on the cliff.

It is suspended some halfway down the cliff, but miraculously has managed not to slide down any further.

Sea water laps up against the shore treacherously close to the titled aircraft.  

Later in the video a crane can be seen with steel ropes attached to the plane.

All 162 passengers and crew on the aircraft were rescued by emergency services.

"We tilted to the side, the front was down while the plane's rear was up.

“There was panic; people shouting, screaming,” a passenger told Turkish news agency Anadolu.

Recently, a viral video captured the moment a plane crash landed into a field after the cockpit filled with smoke.

The pilot, who was a retired naval aviator, was flying with his son and his son’s girlfriend from Virgin to Alabama.

Three hours into the flight, a loud pop can be heard before the engine fails.
