Governor-elect Phil Murphy is hoping his inauguration in Trenton and inaugural ball on the field at at MetLife Stadium will go off without a hitch as he takes the reins of state government on Tuesday
But history shows things don't always go smoothly. Snow, scandal, protestors, mechanical flaws and even Barry Manilow have thrown wrenches into past inaugurals.
Here's a look back at New Jersey's long history of inaugural headaches:
2014, Chris Christie: Bridgegate + blizzard = Really bad day.
Chris Christie should have been at the height of his power after coasting to reelection with the endorsements of powerful Democrats across the state. He was also a favorite for the Republican presidential ticket and won praise for his response to Hurricane Sandy.
But by the time his inauguration day rolled around, the Bridgegate scandal is just getting started, and the governor has traffic problems of his own.
To make matters even worse, a severe snowstorm forces the guv to cancel his inaugural ball on Ellis Island.

2010, Chris Christie: The new gov should keep his day job
After ousting incumbent Democrat Jon Corzine, Gov.-elect Chris Christie sent a message through intermediaries to his idol, Bruce Springsteen: The bossy Republican wants The Boss to play his inaugural bash.
The Boss does not abide. Instead, Christie boogies with The B Street Band, the "Number 1 Bruce Springsteen Tribute Band."
For the record, he was singing "Thunder Road."

2006, Jon Corzine: Now where's the men's room again?
While his inauguration went off without a hitch, Corzine, a Democrat, was often seen with a lost look on his face at the Statehouse as he kept passing by the door to the Governor's Office.
