Saudi high-speed rail set for launch

(MENAFN) Commercial operations will takeoff soon by Saudi Arabia's Haramain high-speed rail, according to Mohammad Feda, the project's general manager at the Saudi Railway Company (SAR).

To guarantee successful accomplishment of required testing ahead of the official launch, the railway trial run will continue from Madinah to Makkah at the end of every week, Feda pointed.

The railway which goes through Jeddah and Rabigh, will link the Kingdom's holy cities of Makkah and Madinah, and can transport 9,000 passengers per hour.
