Two workers died while three others fell ill allegedly due to drinking toxic liquor in Sayedabad village under Sirajganj Sadar upazila.
The deceased, Shah Alam Sheikh, 38, and Ramjan Ali, 45, of the village, used to load and unload trucks.
Fellow workers said the five drank liquor on Friday night and became sick. Ramjan succumbed at about 3:00am on Friday, while the rest were admitted to Sirajganj Sadar Hospital. Alam died at about 8:00am yesterday, police said.
Officer-in-Charge of Sirajganj Sadar Police Station Md Rafikul Islam said police sent the body of Alam Sheikh to Sirajganj General Hospital morgue for autopsy.
“We can confirm whether they died due to the liquor or not after getting post-mortem report,” the OC said.
