
Knights win Nixon Invitational, Bulldogs take 2nd

St. Augustine captured the title Saturday in the J.W. Nixon Invitational at the Max A. Mandel Municipal Golf Course and Alexander finished in second place.
Horacio Perez led the way for the Knights improving by two strokes on the second day of the tournament shooting 73 and taking first place individually with a 148. Perez dedicated the victory to his uncle Chuck Jacaman who recently passed away and is the one who taught him how to golf.
Marcelo Garza was close behind Perez shooting 75 both rounds to place second individually at 150. Also contributing for St. Augustine were Santiago Saenz at 167 (80-87), Paul Young at 171 (84-87) and Mauricio Calderon at 174 (95-79).
Christopher Lopez led Alexander shooting a 154 (78-76) to earn third place individually. Albert Flores was a couple spots back tying for fifth place at 159 (82-77). Also contributing for the Bulldogs were Bernardo Trevino with a 167 (89-78) and Harold DeVally with a 170 (82-88) along with Sergio Gonzalez.
