Melissa Beth O’Brien and Michah Weitzman Rothbart were married Jan. 13 at the Liberty House Restaurant in Jersey City. Rabbi Marc Katz officiated.

The bride, 30, graduated from George Washington University; she is in her final year of study for a law degree there. Upon law school graduation, she is to be an associate at Bond, Schoeneck & King, a firm in Syracuse.

She is a daughter Eileen G. O’Brien of Mahwah, N.J., and Michael O’Brien of Manhattan. The bride’s father is a partner in the Manhattan office of Vedder Price, a law firm based in Chicago. Her mother is a substitute teacher for schools in Bergen County, N.J. The bride is a stepdaughter of Jack Krimkowitz and Oxana O’Brien.

The groom, also 30, is an assistant professor of public administration and international affairs at the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University. He graduated from Cornell, from which he also received a master’s degree in public administration. He also received a doctorate in public administration from N.Y.U.

He is a son of Beth C. Weitzman of Manhattan and Lawrence N. Rothbart of Brooklyn. The groom’s mother is a professor of health and public policy at N.Y.U.’s Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development. His father is a matrimonial lawyer in private practice in Manhattan. The groom is a stepson of Dr. Mitchell Rubin and Laura Finkelstein.

The couple met in December 2013 on the dating app OkCupid.
