Medical care in this country has deteriorated significantly since The Affordable Care Act was passed. Doctors spend more time typing data into their computers than they do with their patients. The odds of being able to see a real physician in the emergency room have dwindled, a lot. A Jan. 11 Greenville News article titled, "Flu forces Greenville Health System to restrict visits" talks about Greenville Health System limiting visitation to adults to combat the spread of flu. The article also says this: “GHS is also asking anyone with respiratory illnesses to delay visits until they are well.” That statement is simply inane, if not insane. What that line means is don’t come to see us until you no longer need to see us. That kind of thinking has brought us to the point where medical care is becoming an illusory hope rather than a process by which patients are provided the care they need when they need it.
