Joseph A. Giofre Hopewell Township Joseph A. Giofre, 87, of Hopewell Twp., passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2018, in his home. Born February 11, 1930, in Aliquippa, he was a son of the late Giuseppe and Mary (Stala) Giofre. Mr. Giofre retired from the open hearth department of LTV Steel, Aliquippa Works, with 29 years of service, and was a U.S. Air Force veteran having served in the Korean War. He was a member of New Life Presbyterian Church in Hopewell Twp., and the former Aliquippa Moose. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marjorie Jean (Sloan) Giofre, in 2003; a grandson, Timothy Gattuso, and three sisters, Lucille Menz, Angelina Mosholder and Philomena Veri. Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Lori and Stephen Gattuso, and Eileen Giofre; three grandchildren, Annice Sanders, Stephen Gattuso and his wife Rachel, and Matthew Gattuso and Jen Clark; seven great-grandchildren, DeShawn, Stephen, Ariel, Joseph, Timothy, Lily and Catherine; a brother and sister-in-law, Domenic and Joan Giofre, and a sister, Madeline Fortunato. Friends will be received Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. in TATALOVICH FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 2205 McMinn St., Aliquippa, www.tatalovichfuneralhome.com, where a service will be held Monday at 11 a.m., with Rev. Jared Nelson, his pastor, officiating. Entombment will follow in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park, Rochester, at 12:15 p.m., where the Beaver County Special Unit will conduct military honors.
