EMBL-GSK Postdoctoral Fellow in anti-infective drug combinations : Heidelberg


Job Description

The European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) is one of the highest ranked scientific research organisations in the world. The Headquarters Laboratory is located in Heidelberg (Germany), with additional sites in Barcelona (Spain), Grenoble (France), Hamburg (Germany), Hinxton near Cambridge (UK), Rome (Italy). We are seeking to recruit an outstanding postdoctoral fellow to work at the interface of high-throughput screening (HTS), chemical genomics and proteomics, with the aim to identify novel combinatorial drug treatments against bacterial intracellular pathogens of the Shigella genus, and dissect their mode-of-action (MoA) and resistance trajectories.
This post-doctoral position is a joint appointment at EMBL and with our industry partner GlaxoSmithKline (GSK). The successful candidate will join the group of Dr. Nassos Typas, and work in close collaboration with Dr. Lluis Ballel-Pages and Dr. Elena Fernández-Álvaro (GSK- Tres Cantos) and their teams, as well as Dr. Savitski’s team (EMBL). The candidate will be part of the EMBL Postdoctoral Program with access to training, mentorship and career development opportunities. In addition, he/she will also benefit from participation in the GSK post-doctoral program, formal mentorship and various trainings/seminar series in drug discovery. Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate should have extensive experience in molecular biology and genetics. Experience in microbial genetics, genome-wide approaches, computational biology, high-throughput screening and infection biology are also preferred. Excellent communication and organizational skills and desire to work in a dynamic, interdisciplinary environment are essential.
