Protest in Pindeniya after little girl killed in road tragedy

Police have used tear gas to disperse a protest carried out by residents of Pindeniya after a 7-year-old girl was killed in a road accident along the Kegalle – Awissawella Road.

Police stated that they had to resort to such action as residents were behaving in an unruly manner stating that the bus involved in the accident had been moved without marking the location of the accident properly.

Later police arrested 13 areas residents.

In this accident, the little girl was killed and 2 others, her grandmother and sister were injured when they were run over by a private bus.

The driver of the private bus who was arrested has been remanded till the 23rd of this month.
