Group clash erupts in B’pur college

A group clash erupted in the Binayak Acharya College here on Friday over holding of a competition programme in the college premises.

According to sources, on Thursday a group of Students’ Union organised different competitions in the college. Opposing the move another group went to the organsing venue and started abusing and beating the teachers, judges and others present.

Later college Principal lodged a complaint in the police against five students who were involved indiscipline activities. On Friday, union president Ch Vikey Patro, VP Devanand Panda and their supporters met Khallikote University Vice-Chancellor Prof Amarendra Narayan Mishra and submitted a memorandum.

They alleged that college Principal and teachers are trying to divide the union into two parts. Meanwhile union secretary D Hitesh and with his supporters held a silent protest and demanded action against the students who have created indiscipline during the event. 

Khallikote University Vice-Chancellor Prof Amarendra Narayan Mishra said he is well aware of the incident. He urged the students to concentrate on studies and not to involve themselves in quarrels.
